Creative capture with purpose!

My Dad - Davey

Mad keen behind the lens, my dad constantly took pictures throughout
our childhood, and beyond! How we laughed through the memorable
slideshows when gathered round the projector screen. Different times!

Back then, I wasn’t particularly interested in photography, certainly
not on Dad’s level. Waiting outside Boots for the one-hour prints
nearly always ended in disappointment! Again, different times.

I think my fascination came later. I enjoyed viewing proper pictures
of us windsurfing, and with that, the resulting infectious narrative.

Learning on the Job!

Throughout my years in sports retailing, visuals became central to promoting the
business and generating sales as online markets emerged and rapidly evolved. This
period coincided with the age of digital photography. Despite no formal training,
my skills naturally developed, as did my respect for the technicality involved!

Products, people, places: often captured with minimal equipment and planning in
unforgiving environments! These experiences increased my depth of practical
expertise as I endeavoured to achieve results that connected with the audience.

I still strive to be better, to do better, as I think it's the minimum I expect of
myself. But I also try to be realistic and enjoy the journey. That's really important.

Getting the Shot!

What’s your take on photography? For me it’s varied. Sometimes I’m
visually storytelling, yet when promoting a product or service, it can all be
about creative expression. Often the paths cross. Every situation is unique.

Regardless, capturing a moment in time is just that, and without a camera,
you’re nowhere! Nearly everyone carries a mobile, and what can be achieved
using these automated pocket computers is amazing. But know the limitations.

Whatever you’re planning, consider whether good is going to be good enough.

Quality aside, will the pictures serve your needs? Everyone has different
standards. Employing a photographer will often be a good call. You decide.

What I Offer

Much of my photographic time and effort underpins my commercial marketing
services, producing dynamic high-quality material for website builds and print.

Voluntary shoots have been particularly rewarding, often photographing activities
following my kids' lives! Seeing first-hand reactions and receiving genuinely lovely
feedback was a catalyst to venture further by taking on specific assignments.

If you’re looking for graphical content for a new website or brochure, or wish to
refresh an existing presence, I can help! And I’d also relish the opportunity to
photograph your event, special celebration, performance or sporting occasion.

Can I Help?

Where possible, I attempt to frame shots using unique
perspectives. Favouring longer focal lengths allows me to
get in closer for candid pictures that often evoke emotions.

Please look through the sample images and if you feel my style
may align with your requirements, I’d love to have a discussion.

I'm always keen to tread new turf - all ears for fresh ideas!
